Ditch Mower Fitted With Shut-Off Clutch
“I have a very steep ditch that’s about 3 ft. deep so I mounted a Honda push mower off to the side. I think it’s unusual because I installed a clutch so I can turn off the blades without shutting down the motor when crossing the road,” says Larry Drader, N. Saanich, British Columbia.
In addition to the clutch, Drader also extended the pull cord so he can start the mower from his tractor seat without getting off the mower.
He made a parallel linkage to mount between the riding mower and side-mount mower, attached to a frame he added over the top of the small mower. The drawbar linkage allows the mower to pivot up and down as needed.
