Low-Cost Air Conditioning
One hot summer day, Rex Gogerty of Hubbard, Iowa, got to thinking about how cool it was down in his basement - and how much money he was spending on electricity to cool the upper floors of the house.
That's when he got the idea for a low-cost way to spread that cool basement air around. He put a box fan on a chair at the base of the stairs and pointed it upward. He doesn't really know how much it saves but it cools off the room at the top of the stairs and costs very little to run.
