Big Bale Mover Uses Old Car Wheels, Hubs
The challenge of trying to find a "damage proof" way to move silage bales wrapped in plastic led to the invention of a new bale mover that uses old car tires and hubs.
In addition to moving wrapped bales without doing damage, the new bale mover can also be used to unroll round bales. "We think it's the handiest, most versatile round bale handler ever developed," says inventor Bill Denstedt of Frey Industries.
Denstedt's bale mover consists of two hydraulic-powered squeeze arms, each fitted with its own cylinder, mounted on a heavy 3-pt. mounted frame. An auto hub and spindle mounts at the end of each arm. A wheel rim and tire mount on each hub. Both spin freely.
The rubber sidewalls tightly grab the sides of a bale whether it's wrapped in plastic or not. There's nothing to puncture plastic and one advantage is that when you pick up a bale on its rounded sides, you can use the rotating bale holders to either set the bale down on its end or on it's side. To unroll a bale you just pick it up on its ends and roll it out on the ground.
Can be mounted on either the 3-pt. or front-end loader. Handles 4, 5 or 6-ft. dia. bales. Sells for $975 (U.S.).
