Personalized Toilet Paper
"It's the ultimate personal, practical joke," says Jim Carlberg, who's developed a rapidly-growing business around "personalized" toilet paper. It's custom imprinted with the photo or saying of your choice.
Besides custom-printed rolls, Carlberg sells stock rolls already imprinted with photos of David Stockman, John Block, Ronald Reagan or Chicago mayor Harold Washington. A stock roll sells for $4.95, plus postage.
Carlberg notes that many requests are for rolls with an in-law's, boss's or ex-spouse's picture. He says custom-rolls are also frequently ordered as gag gifts for weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. Some colleges and other groups even sell custom-printed toilet paper to raise money.
The 2-ply paper is straight off the grocery store shelf and the ink used is "hygienically acceptable," says Carlberg.
For your own custom-designed toilet paper, send him a photo (color or black and white) or saying. Cost is $22.70 for the minimum order of four rolls.
