Dishwasher Uses No Electricity
Imagine a dishwasher that doesn't use electricity. The new Ecotech, from Hart Industries, Laguna Hills, Cal., does just that. Tap water is its only energy source.
The innovative machine takes water from the tap and uses it to create hundreds of tiny but powerful jets strategically placed around the inside of the dishwasher. The jet spray also spins the carousel of dishes, the only moving part, so every piece is washed clean.
Water used is drained immediately ù none is reused ù into a slide-out extender tray that you empty into the sink. The entire wash/rinse cycle takes just two minutes for six place settings.
Ecotech uses liquid detergent for cleaning and is safe for crystal and plastics. Dimensions are 24 by 24 by 23-in. and the entire unit weighs less than 30 lbs. A company spokesman notes that only five psi of water pressure is needed to power the unit.
Sells for approximately $350.
