Farm Vision Gives You 20-20 Hindsight
"It's like having eyes in the back of your head," says Steve Shannon of U-See Video Systems, Fresno, Cal., distributor of Farm Vision, a handy new tool for seeing behind your back while driving your tractor, combine or other farm machinery.
The system consists of a TV camera with a wide angle lens, and a dashboard-mounted TV monitor which gives you a panoramic view of what's going on behind, without having to look back.
Camera range is affected by its location. As a rule of thumb, its viewing range in length is about seven times the height at which the camera is mounted. Viewing width is about twice the height at which the camera is mounted.
Farm Vision, which has a green cathode ray tube to make it easier to see in direct sunlight, sells for $1,785, including the camera, a cable connecting the camera and monitor, the monitor and installation brackets.
A lower cost system ($1,485) called Car Vision is available for motor homes and trucks.
