Bolt-On Applicator Covers Up Manure
If you're looking for a way to reduce odors while applying liquid manure, you'll want to take a close look at this new bolt-on applicator that lays manure on top of the ground, then uses pairs of big disc coulters to cover it up with soil.
Vittetoe, Inc., Keota, Iowa, says the 12-ft. wide, toolbar-mounted applicator can be used on sod, corn, or soybean stubble as well as with conventional tillage. It's equipped with three pairs of 24-in. dia. coulters, with each pair mounted on a single shank that clamps onto the toolbar. Manure is delivered through hoses and dropped be-hind each of the shanks. The discs then pull layers of soil inward over the manure. A pair of hydraulic cylinders is used to adjust downpressure on the discs so that you can regulate how much soil is thrown on top of the manure.
Fits most truck-mounted or pull-type liquid manure tanks.
Sells for $2,900 (delivered).
