Hauler Tractor Is Also A Truck
✖ |
New from North Dakota is the "Hillside Hauler", a high horsepower tractor that in minutes converts into a truck, fertilizer spreader or sprayer. Or, you can use it simultaneously as a "floater" truck (to haul and spread fertilizer) and tractor (to pull a field cultivator or other implement).
"There's nothing on the market like it," says Jerome Knudson, Crosby, inventor and manufacturer who has just opened a spanking new factory for producing his popular Knudson Hillside tractor and his just-introduced Hillside Hauler.
Used as a tractor, the Hauler boasts 343 engine hp. (Deutz 10 cylinder diesel engine). It's equipped with a Twin Disc power shift transmission featuring six speeds forward and two in reverse, with "shift on the go" capability.
An exclusive feature of the Hauler is its 5 ft. telescoping frame which allows it to be extended to hold a special grain box (600 bu. capacity), or two 1250 gal. tanks for spraying or fertilizing. The Hauler serves only as an in-the-field or on-farm truck. It isn't designed for long distance, over-the-road trucking.
"It will do everything a comparable horsepower tractor will do, plus it has the added capability of a truck," explains Knudson. Where it's needed, the Hauler's patented Hillside feature - which Knudson also offers in his conventional 4-wheel drive tractor models - makes it easy to maneuver on steep slopes under load. The self-leveling device automatically shifts weight of the tractor to the upper wheels to maintain proper oil level in the engine, increase operator comfort, improve maneuverability, increase stability and reduce down draft. The Hauler is also available in a standard model for operators who don't need the Hillside feature.
The combination truck-tractor is equipped with crab steering and a reversible 3 pt. hitch which allows it to be changed from category 4 to category 3, or vice versa, in seconds.
For spraying or applying liquid fertilizer, the Hauler is available with booms up to 90 ft. Matching-width tillage equipment is available, allowing one operator to apply dry or liquid fertilizer, or apply herbicide, and work the soil in a once-over operation.
The Hauler is available custom built to the owner's specifications. You can get about as many features as you want, depending upon how much you want to spend.
