Acre Counter Fits Deere, Kinze Planters
"Since FARM SHOW's original story on our product in 1984, we've sold more than 4,000 acre counters in the U.S. and Canada," says Tom Dillman, farmer and manufacturer of the Tru-Count acre counter for Deere Max-Emerge and Kinze planters.
"Our counter also helps set the planter. Just a 5% error for one day on a 4-row planter can cost the operator over $160 for just the cost of the seed and chemical wasted, not to mention the expense of replanting or the loss of yield that could result," Dillman told FARM SHOW.
The acre counter is driven by the lower shaft of the planter transmission. The counter consists of a mechanical counter and a pair of plastic gears that vary in size depending on the width of the planter. Since the shaft the counter mounts on is disengaged by the planter itself, the gears always remain in constant mesh with no sliding or slipping when the planter is raised.
Sells for $74.50.
