Cordless Nailer Uses A Magnet To Hold Each Nail As It Pounds
Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp., Brookfield, Wis. ph 800 729-3878; www.milwaukeetool.com: This company's new cordless nailer uses a magnet to hold each nail as it pounds, allowing you to use it with one hand.
The battery-powered M12 Palm Nailer works almost as fast as an air-powered model, but doesn't require use of an air compressor or hose. It weighs just 3.4 lbs. As you hold the tool over a nail, a 3.2-ounce steel ram moves up and down 2,700 times a minute, alternately compressing a spring and then bouncing back forcefully to hit a steel post in the tip that strikes the nail. The unit can drive a common 2-in. nail in one second and a 3 1/2-in. nail in less than two; it can even sink 5-in. pole barn spikes.
