Mini truck has 20 forward speeds
"I call it the Hermobile," says Herman Coleman, Vici, Okla., who built a "for fun" mini-truck from scratch that's got 20 forward speeds and 5 in reverse.
The truck weighs 1,120 lbs. and is 9 1/ 2 ft. long, 4 ft. wide and 5 ft. high. It's got a wood cargo box on back.
"We use it for some chores around the farm but mostly we built it for fun and to take to parades," says Coleman..
The truck is powered by a Honda 185CC engine with 5 gears and is equipped with a 112 Deere garden tractor rear end transaxle that's got an additional four forward gears and reverse. The combination of the two gives the truck 5 speeds in each of the gears in transaxle. Top speed is 35 mph, Contact FARM SHOW Followup, Her-man Coleman, Rt. 1, Box 17, Vici, Okla, 73859 (ph 405 995-4425).
