Grind Up Moisture Tester
"It's much more accurate than any other moisture tester on the market," says Svend Jakobsen, of Agrofarm Electronic, manufacturer of a new "grind up" moisture tester that grinds up grain with a screw-on cap.
"Conventional moisture testers do not give accurate readings if grain is very dry on the outside but still moist inside. This tester works under all conditions," says Jakobsen. A small sample goes into a cavity at center and a cover with a ratchet handle screws onto a center post. Circular grinding plates on the wider side of the cover and at the bottom of the grain cavity grind up the grain between them as the cover is tightened down. Once it's down as tight as it goes, you get an instant reading.
Sells for $419.
