Ridge Huggers Keep Planters On Track
Anyone who's tried ridge-till planting will want to take a look at these new ùridge huggers" for ridge planters that use slant-sided drums to keep the planter on course.
The ridge huggers were developed by Fleischer Mfg., Inc., manufacturers of Buffalo planters. "Other manufacturers use rubber tires set at angles to hold to the ridge. These work better because the edges dig in and hold the planter better with more stability," says Fleischer sales manager John Matteson.
Two sets of ridge huggers are required per planter. They float independently of the depth control guage wheels. Edges of the slanted drums, which dig into the soil surface, are hard-surfaced for high wear. Matteson notes that ridge huggers will also be available for ridge-till cultivators.
They sell for $400 per set.
