X-Mas Tree Trimmer
If you've ever thought about planting a few acres of Christmas trees but you've hesitated because of the work involved, you'll be interested in this latest new tree trimmer that's making the work a lot easier than ever before.
The sicklebar-type trimmer - available with either a 6 or 8-ft. long cutterbar - is hydraulic-powered by a compact backpack-carried power pack consisting of a small gas engine driving a hydraulic pump. A hydraulic line runs under the operator's arm to a small motor on the cutterbar. A 2-handed carrying handle makes it easy to walk around a tree in seconds, cutting it down to perfect Christmas-tree shape.
"Lets you trim trees almost as fast as you can walk. Anyone can use it," says Gerrit Strathmeyer of Strathmeyer Forests, distributor and also a large Christmas tree grower. The self-sharpening cutterbar never needs sharpening. An 8-ft. model sells for $1,650.
