Plastic Snowfence FENCING Fence Systems 10-6-27 "Best snowfence ever made," say manufacturers of new plastic snow-fence that's sturdy yet lightweight and easy to handle.
A 100-ft. roll of the 4-ft. fence from Tensar Corp. weighs just 39 lbs. and is just 10 in. in dia. It has no sharp edges, does not splinter and can't conduct electricity.
"Other manufacturers have produced plastic snowfence in the past but this is the first ever with stiff vertical plastic ribs that keep the fence from sagging," says Jerry Duff, company representative.
The high-density black polyethylene product has been "light stabilized" so ultra-violet rays won't break it down. It's designed to provide up to 20 years of service and can withstand winds up to 100 mph. "Won't rust or rot and will always maintain a like-new appearance," Duff points out, noting that Tensar's plastic fence cuts airflow 50% versus 40% for wood slot fencing.
The fence, which sells for $110 per 100 ft. roll (that's only about 10% more than wood slat and wire fence, notes Duff), can be attached to metal posts like conventional snowfence.
