Pickup Hauls Big Five Bale Load
"I keep looking at the empty space at the top and think I could have loaded a sixth bale up there," says Dewey Hostetler, founder of DewEze Mfg., Inc., Harper, Kan., who used one of his own pickup-mounted big bale loaders to put a king-size load of five bales on his truck without any outside help or additional equipment.
"I did it strictly to show what could be done. We don't encourage anyone to try it themselves," says Hostetler.
To load up, Hostetler first put two bales in the box and then grabbed a third bale towards its bottom in order to reach far enough to put it on top. Then he picked up the fourth, which he held until he backed up against a fifth bale. He Iet the fourth bale go against the fifth as it lay on the ground and then picked them both up at once.
