Low-Cost Header Hauler
You can transform almost any running gear into a handy header hauler with a new kit from MD Products, Schaller, Iowa.
Keeping equipment shedded helps boost resale values but getting a big combine head inside can often be a problem. A trailer type transport lets you roll a head into tight spots that you might otherwise never get into, even with a 3-pt. carrier.
The kit consists of two brackets that mount at either end of a running gear. First step is to lengthen the distance between axles to about 13 ft. and then weld the preassembled bracket kits to each bolster. Then you simply bolt a wood or steel beam across the upper ends of the two brackets, running the length of the trailer. This beam supports the platform or snouts. If the length of the head exceeds 20 ft., you may need to lengthen the running gear tongue.
Sells for $239. Can handle any size header.
