New Low Priced Tillage Tool Replacement Parts
You'll like these new tillage tool parts from Herschel Corporation, the Iowa company that manufacturers the innovative Tiger Jaw cutterbar for combines.
Shank Savers
New Shank Savers prevent wear of shanks directly above the sweep on row crop cultivators, field cultivators and chisel plows. Made from super hard, slick 1/4-in. thick polyethylene, the abrasion resistant plastic is 1.8 times more resistant than carbon steel. It has nearly the same "sliding" properties as Teflon, according to company representative Gary Cook-Isaacson.
In addition to reducing wear, the slippery Shank Savers also help reduce dirt and trash build-up on the shank. They extend about 9 in. up the shank.
Shank Savers simply bolt in place behind the top edge of the sweep. There are two models. One fits sweeps with 7/16 bolts and the other fits 112-in. bolts. Bolt holes are slotted to fit any model. Shank Savers sell for $1.25 apiece.
Soil Saver Alloy Points
"These new points get 2 to 3 times the wear and they're the same price as regular hard surfaced points," says Herschel representative Cook-Isaacson about the company's high chromium alloy points designed to fit any "soil saver" shank.
The company says the alloy points wear more evenly than hard-surfaced points in all soils because the entire point is made of the durable metal. "We've tested these points over thousands of acres and they consistently outlast other points and wear much more evenly for better performance through the life of the point," says Cook-Isaacson.
Hammer-Lok Sweeps
New Herschel sweeps eliminate the need to bolt and unbolt when changing sweeps. Once you install the special mounting clip, you never have to bolt on another sweep. Sweeps are driven on and off the mounting clip with a hammer.
Made from hardened boron steel, Herschel sweeps are available in 3/16 and 1/4 in. thick material in 4, 7, 9, and 10-in. widths. The 3/16in. sweeps havea47? stem angle and the 1/4-in. sweeps have either a 43? or 47? stem angle.
