Wheelbarrow Calf Puller
"We're the manufacturer of the revolutionary new calf puller that was featured in an earlier issue of FARM SHOW. We wanted to let any readers who had trouble getting more information about this unique product that they should contact us our U.S. distributor," says Chris Abts of Aluro in Belgium.
The new puller looks like a long narrow wheelbarrow, with a wheel on one end and handles at the others. The handle end of the unit fits over the rear end of a calf, while the wheel is used to winch up steel cable used to pull the calf. Once the calf is out, the unit can be used to move it around.
"Unlike other pullers, it lets you calve either lying down or standing up. One per-son can easily pull the calf, and the wheel lets you feel the contractions of the cow. It can also be used to hang the calf by it's feet when needed in case of dyspnoea," says Abts, noting that the unit can also double as a dead animal handler.
