Model-A Fords Back In Style FARM HOME Cars 2-4-31 If you're a classic car buff with a weakness for Model A Fords, you'll be glad to know you can buy a shiny new 1931 Roadster or Phaeton that combines the best of the old with the best of the new.
Model A Fords -1978 style - are a specialty of Replicars, Inc., headquartered in West Palm Beach, Fla. The company builds Model A Fords said to be "perfect replicas" of the rumbleseat Roadster and Phaeton - all equipped with 135 hp. V-8 engines; power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, radio, stereo, tape deck and even a tilted steering wheel.
Each car carries a Ford warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles. Cars weigh 2,680 lbs., measure 161 in. long, 65 in. wide and 65 in, high, and carry a price tag of $13,900. "This is definitely not a car construction kit," a company spokesman points out. "You pay $1,000 down, put in your order, and we handcraft the car for you."
The cars are available in a variety of exterior colors and interior upholstery in models of the Phaeton, Roadster or pickup truck.
