Split Wood With Your Tractor
"There's never been a handier wood splitter for farmers," says Don TenHulzen, of Firth, Nebr., about his new 3-pt. powered splitter for .tractors.
The splitter attaches to any standard Cat. II 3-pt. hitch by removing the upper supporting brace. The cutting wedge mounts at the top and the log is pulled up to it. When you raise the hitch, the log rides up the splitter table until it's driven against the wedge. "It -handles logs up to 27 in. long and 24 in. in dia. Requires an 80 hp. to 100 hp. tractor," says TenHulzen.
"The biggest advantage is that you can take the splitter along wherever you go without hauling a trailer or other apparatus. And you don't need to buy another power system. You can use what you already own," he adds. TenHulzen recommends that just one person operate the splitter. "If controls are not convenient, you can make a simple extension control to use from the ground."
With the splitter attached, you can still use your tractor drawbar. Or, it only takes a few minutes to remove the splitter.
Sells for $139.
