Wetbike Is Fun Machine For Farm Families
If your family likes to water ski, motorcycle, or snowmobile, you'll like the new Wetbike from Arctic Enterprises. This new fun machine for farm families combines the fun and thrills of all three sports.
The Wetbike, designed for one or two riders, operates much like a motorcycle as it hydroplanes on top of the water. The new recreational vehicle was developed in California and is being manufactured in Minnesota by Arctic Enterprises, one of the nation's largest snowmobile manufacturers. It's mounted on skis and powered by a 50'hp. watercooled marine engine. The. fiberglass, hull and skis make it light weight - only 325 lbs. - for convenient towing and launching.
Wetbike is capable of 30 mph speeds and has the power to tow a water skier. The gas tank holds 7.5 gals., enough to run the bike 75 to 100 miles. It requires some special operating skills which are easily learned. The driver mounts from the rear, starts the bike and moves out at a slow speed. At rest, the bike draws 2'/a ft. of water, but rises to the water surface when speed reaches 12 mph. At open throttle, it is capable of the same tight turns and jumps as a motorcycle. Should the rider fall off, the throttle is set to shut off automatically, and the bike will right itself. A built-in bilge pump keeps the hull free of water.
The new craft is said to be fully approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. A rubber panel waterproofs the starter, choke and stop pushbuttons, and the fiberglass hull has a watertight engine cover.
Arctic Enterprises reportedly will make approximately 2,000 Wetbikes this year. Suggested retail is $2,195.
