Wingless Disc Heads New Steiger Tillage Line
That first "wingless" disc we told you about a year ago in FARM SHOW (Vol. 5, No. 3) heads Steiger Tractor's entry into the tillage equipment business.
Steiger has acquired the tillage line of Wilbeck, a division of the Binkley Co., Warrenton, Mo. Heading the line is the industry's first "wingless" Trail-R-Disc. It has a 45 ft. cutting width, yet folds rearward to a narrow 14 ft., 9 in.
"It'll run circles around conventional wing-up discs," the sales manager of the Binkley Co. told FARM SHOW when the "wingless" disc was first announced. "It works better in the field, and is much simpler and safer to transport. We think it's one of the biggest-ever breakthroughs in disc design."
Steiger tractor will offer the Trail-R-Disc in working widths of 25 to 45 ft., a 14 ft., 9 in. transport width (11 ft. optional), and with a choice of 24 or 26 in. smooth or notched blades.
Steiger's new tillage line also features a new disc chisel. Rigid frame tandem offset and double offset discs will be avilable later, according to Doug Rotman, Steiger's marketing services manager. He adds that the first Steiger-produced Trail-R-Discs will be available in January.
