Yoke Lets Small Tractor Pull Big Equipment
"It does the work of an 300 hp.4-WD tractor when pulled behind an 80 hp. tractor," says Mike Dean, distributor of the "Yoke", a tow-behind power unit equipped with a 6-cyl. 150 hp. Caterpillar engine. The "Yoke" was first featured as a prototype in FARM SHOW two years ago.
Since that original report, new control sensors have been added to the dual-tired rig. It's now fully automatic, requiring no input from the tractor driver. Tension on the hitch turns the Yoke on or off. When the load becomes too much for the tractor, it automatically kicks in. It's setup so that it's not possible for it to push the vehicle it's coupled to.
The Yoke has it's own hydraulic system, 3-pt. and pto and is equipped with a 2-speed gearbox. Sells for $47,000.
