Collapsible Hopper For Unloading Augers
"It collapses if you back up into it," says Dennis Scarrow, Fab Tec, Spy Hill, Sask., about his new collapsible hopper bottom.
It straps onto any auger up to 10 in. in dia. and includes a collapsible spring-loaded stand that holds it at a conventional angle. By flipping a lever, you can collapse the hopper and slip it under a semi-truck, hop-per bottom bins, etc. Flipping the lever the other way pops the hopper back up onto the stand.
"The hopper is made out of 20 oz. poly canvas so it won't rip easily and isn't affected by cold," says Scar ow.
Sells for $160 (Canada).
The company also makes a new remote-control directional spout for augers that rotates 360 degrees to easily control flow of grain. "It lets you fill a 20-ft. truck box without having to climb into your truck or move it," says Scarrow.
The tapered poly spout clamps onto the top of the auger and is connected to a steel rod that runs to the bottom of the auger where a lever with a knob is used to control the position of the spout. An adjustable cam-lock is used to lock the spout into any position. The mounting brackets fit any size auger, and 1 and 2-ft. long telescoping extensions are available for the spout. Sells for $250 (Canada).
