Remote Mower Powered By Electric Motor
Here's a nifty new way to power remote-mounted equipment. Italian manufacturer Carlo Roveron eliminated the need for heavy-duty hydraulics on a new side-mount mower by powering the cutterhead with a DC electric motor.
The water-resistant electric motor is powered by a 48-volt DC generator that's pto-driven by the tractor. The telescoping reach arm is hydraulically-controlled by a pair of cylinders but, because the mower head itself is electric-driven, a smaller tractor with less hydraulic capacity can be used.
"It makes the mower lighter, requires less maintenance and makes the entire machine much easier to operate," says company representative Peter Keim.
