Dog Collar Stops Nuisance Barking
New "Behave" dog collar uses high-pitched sound to stop dogs from barking rather than electric shock that's been used by other preventive collars in the past.
Frank J. Bianco, president of the Elexis Corp., says every year more than 200,000 dog owners have the vocal cords cut on their pets to stop their barking. Others have tried electric dog collars but they can cause pain to the animals and were expensive, at a cost of as much as $300.
A patented new transceiver on the new Elexis collar activates the collar to produce a short, harmless burst of sound whenever a dog barks. The sound doesn't hurt the dog but distracts it so it stops barking. Anyone listening will only hear a "click".
Sells for $79.95.
