Rescue Winch For Stuck Equipment
"Large tractors or combines hopelessly mired in mud up to their axles are pulled out with ease using the Farmi rescue winch," reports Rainer Langstedt, of Northeast Implement Corp., marketer of the Finnish-made Farmi winch.
"Our large model JL 45 can be used to pull out most any farm machinery, tractors, combines or farm trucks," explains Langstedt. "Used with an auxiliary pulley (see drawing) the unit has a pulling capacity of up to 20,000 lbs., which means it will lift
20,000 lbs. straight up. Thus, it will move much heavier equipment which is standing on the ground."
The Farmi winch is equipped with a set of legs which rest on the ground when the 3-pt. linkage is lowered. The legs allow the unit to operate independent of the rescue tractor's wheel traction. Because the pulling point is high, mired machinery is "lifted" during the pull.
Model JL 45, designed for use with a 60 hp or large rescue tractor, retails for $1,650. A smaller model (JL 30) has up to 13,200 lbs. pulling capacity and (with the auxiliary pulley) retails for $1,090. It comes with 165 ft. of 3/8 in. cable on the drum. Model JL 45 uses 165 ft. of 1/2 in. cable.
Both models can be operated from the driver's seat, or from the side of the unit.
