Self Propelled Snowblower Built From A Junked Garden Tractor And 2 Stage Blower
Here's a photo of a self-propelled snowblower I built from a junked garden tractor and 2-stage blower. I made a new frame out of angle iron, shortening the wheelbase and putting the drive axle right behind the blower. The steering axle is at the rear. I drive it with an 18-hp. Wisconsin motor. A hydraulic cylinder powered by a power steering pump raises and lowers the blower. A car power window motor rotates the chute. I wrapped bicycle chain around the center of the steering tires to aid turning. In all it cost less than $200 but does a great job. (Eugene Bissey, 117E.
