Pipe Protects Driveway From Snow Plow
Glenn Reeder, New Tripoli, Pa.: “This is a picture of the pipe I have mounted on my snowplow. I got this idea from a tip in FARM SHOW many years ago. I had the local welding shop cut a slot in a 6-in. dia. pipe. Three straps welded to it fasten it to the plow blade.
“The pipe allows me to plow my crushed-stone driveway without causing too much damage to the surface. It also lets me push snow off grassy areas without tearing up the grass. I plow the snow off a pasture area to help the deer find something to eat, which reduces the damage they do to my shrubbery.
“It works well and is easily removed if needed. I would use a larger, thicker pipe if I did it over again. After 15 years, it’s starting to wear thin at the bottom. I’d also add some weights and cap the ends of the pipe so it doesn’t fill with stones or dirt when angled.”
