Dogs Trained To Smell Coronavirus LIVESTOCK DOGS We’ve seen stories about dogs who have been trained to sniff out bed bugs truffles and even cancer so it’s probably not that surprising that dogs trained to detect the coronavirus have nearly a 100 percent success rate in detecting Covid-19 in sweat samples from infected people According to recent news reports dogs are being trained in several places around the world In Australia they’re working primarily with German Shepherds Once enough dogs have been successfully trained they’ll be used to screen people at airports borders senior facilities etc It takes 6 to 8 weeks to train a dog that’s already been trained to detect smells and 3 to 6 months for a dog that’s never been trained Dogs sniff samples through a cone in order to keep them safe from the virus
