A Cleaner Planter Lubricant
A cleaner, safer and healthier new seed and mechanical lubricant made entirely from soybeans was introduced at the recent National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky.
DUST is a light-colored powdered lubricant that provides the needed lubricity for proper seed flow, but is much cleaner to use. Since it’s made entirely from soy protein, it will disappear within 28 days from the furrow.
“It’s a great seed box treatment for your planter or grain drill and is much cleaner to use than graphite or talc, which farmers have been using for years. It quickly rubs off your hands, face, and clothing,” says Dave Burgei, S.I. Distributing, Spencerville, Ohio. “DUST is biodegradable and breaks down in the soil without leaving any residue in the environment.”
DUST is a low use rate product. “Generally, the starting rate should be no greater than 1/4 cup per unit of seed. The rate will depend on the type of planter, seed type, planting conditions, and so forth.”
DUST is sold in 7-lb. ($57.50) and 14-lb. ($98) containers.
