Industrial-Grade Drill Bits & Welding Supplies
Why settle for cheap import drill bits that don’t last when you can get high-end USA-made drill bits that you won’t find in any big box store? Silas Zimmerman of Z-DRILL has been supplying machine shops, metal fabricators, and hardware stores with top quality drill bits from a St. Paul, Minn., manufacturer for the past 5 years.

“We sell high quality industrial-grade products that we know will meet or exceed our customers’ needs and expectations,” says Zimmerman. “We have almost 100% customer satisfaction record on the tens of thousands of drill bits and sets that we have sold.

“These drill bits have been tested and proven by me and my customers to drill most metals including stainless steel, spring steel, bearing races, and of course also offering superior performance in drilling mild steel. I personally wouldn’t use any other drill bits,” says Zimmerman.

His most popular set, the AQF-29P, is pictured at the right and includes 29 drill bits from size 1/16” through 1/2” by 64th inch increments. Sizes 3/16” to 1/2” feature 3-flatted shanks to eliminate chuck slippage. The drill bits come in a heavy-duty, unbreakable black plastic canister featuring a clip and a convenient screw-on cap with a rubber washer, making it weather-proof. The same set is also available in a blaze orange canister (AQF-29PO), as well as in a standard metal index (AQF-29). All three sets retail for $95.

The AQF-15 is popular as well and includes 15 drill bits in sizes 1/16” through 1/2” by 32nd inch increments. This set is available only in a metal index for $59.

For those who need drills over 1/2”, the S&D-8SP includes 8 drill bits from 9/16” through 1” by 16th inch increments. They feature 1/2” reduced shanks with three flats on the shank to give positive chuck grip. The set comes in a heavy-duty metal index and retails for $244.

Individual drill bits are available in sizes from 1/16” through 1˝”, as well as many other sizes and types of drill bits, taps and dies, and thousands of other welding and metal fabrication products.

Another popular product line for Z-DRILL customers is the carbide-tipped holecutters, pictured at bottom right. These holecutters cut three times faster than bi-metal hole saws, and they perform well in stainless steel. “We’ve had customers ‘complain’ to us that we’ve spoiled them by getting them started using these holecutters,” says Zimmerman. “They work extremely well.” Diameters range from 9/16” to 5” in either

3/16” or 1” cut depth.

“We are primarily a wholesale company,” says Zimmerman, “but retail customers are either referred to their closest dealer or we can sell to them direct if we have no dealer in their area. Of course, dealer inquiries are always welcome as well.”
