Compost Sifter Made From 5-Gal. Pail Lids
“I made a 3-ft. long compost sifter from a pair of 5-gal. pail lids attached to each end of a cylinder made out of 1/2-in. hardware mesh. I fastened the mesh to both lids, then cut away part of one lid to make an opening for filling it up. I drilled a hole through both lids that’s big enough for a round wood handle and then ran the handle all the way through, wedging it in tight.
I place the compost sifter inside a wheelbarrow and use the handle to roll it back and forth to sift out compost that’s ready to use on our garden. (Tom Lass, 5502 Hill Rd., Cromwell, Minn. 55726 ph 218 644-3235)
