Tractor-Mounted Stump Grinder
“We’re the only manufacturer of a stump removal device that can pulverize any 2 ft. dia. stump down to 4 in. below the ground in less than one minute,” says Jed Hollan, president of Levco Mfg. Co., Wynne, Ark.
The company’s model TM 1000 is designed for use with tractors in the 90 to 125 hp range. It takes a 25 in. cut, is completely tractor mounted and is a maneuverable as the tractor itself, according to Hollan.
A smaller companion mode (TM 540) takes a cut 13 in. wide and 10 in. deep. It will cut stumps of any diameter, same as the larger model.
“These machines operate in muddy fields and can be cutting stumps while it is too wet to do any other fieldwork,” Hollan points out. Cutting teeth on both models are tungsten carbide tipped and never need sharpening. “Life of the teeth varies but most operators report that over 500 acres of stumpy ground can be covered before major tooth replacement is necessary,” says Hollan.
Suggested list price is $5,295 for the large model (TM 1000) and $3,859 for the smaller model TM 540.
