"Double Rim Hoops"
Butch Batterson wants to treat all his grandchildren equally – no matter how tall they are. So he created a double basketball hoop.
He purchased a standard height portable basketball hoop with a backboard and then bought a second hoop and net.
“I mounted it about halfway down the pole with 3-in. muffler clamps,” he explains. “That way I can adjust it. As the kids grow I can raise it higher.”
Besides leveling the playing field for shorter, younger players, the second hoop adds a challenge for older players.
“The big kids like to shoot the ball through the top hoop and get it to go through the bottom hoop, too,” Batterson says.
