Rotating Step Mounted On Pickup
This rotating step, mounted on my pickup's back bumper, sure has been handy for me. It rotates out to the side of the pickup when the tailgate is down and you can't use the bumper to step up on to get into the pickup box. It bolts to the outside curve of the bumper at the back corner. A 10-in. piece of 1-in. dia. steel shaft welds between two pieces of angle iron that bolt to the back of the bumper (4 bolts). The shaft extends below the bumper. A piece of 4 by 8-in. diamond plate is attached to a 4-in. piece of 1 in. pipe which slips over the steel shaft. The bottom of the pipe is notched so it'll fit over a roll pin at the bottom of the steel shaft. In transport, the step rides under the truck. To use, you lift up on it (raising it off the roll pin) and rotate it 1800 so it sticks out from the side of the pickup. (Gus Laroy, Rt. 1, Riga, Mich. 49276)
