Heavy-Duty Grill Guard For Deere Tractors
Ray Kilgore owns a small fabrication shop in Oakman, Ala. He recently sent photos of a grill guard he built for a customer.
"The customer came in with a new Deere 5065M 4-WD, 60-hp tractor asking for a custom-made grill guard. He does a lot of bush hogging so he needs a grill guard, but said he didn't like the ones offered by Deere," says Kilgore.
"We sat down and looked at photos of a few grill guards on other tractor brands and after a few sketches we came up with our own design. The customer, Ed Sparks of Jasper, Ala., is very happy with it."
The grill guard measures 3 ft. wide and 3 ft. high and has a 1 3/4-in. round tubing frame covered by expanded metal. "Our grill guard is considerably wider and taller than Deere's, and it angles back on both sides to cover more area," says Kilgore.
Kilgore is an approved car chassis builder for NASCAR racecars. "I've worked with some of the best drivers in NASCAR history, so I know what kind of grill guard is needed to protect a vehicle," says Kilgore.
He says he's willing to make grill guards for any brand or model tractor at a competitive price.
