"Weeder" Saves Time, Money And Your Back
The ECO weeder is designed for medium and large acreage, high value crops where getting the weeds in the row is difficult, especially if you're trying to avoid chemicals.
Univerco, Inc., began making the weeder 10 years ago and it has become one of their best sellers, according to Mario Bisaillon, vice president of sales.
ECO weeders mount on a 3-point hitch. They feature pto-driven weeder wheels with rubber-mounted rake tines which can eliminate up to 90 to 95% of weeds of any height. It requires an operator on the machine to guide the weeder wheels between the plants. Weeder wheels are designed to uproot weeds without damaging crops.
The ECO sells for $3,850 and the ECO II goes for $5,950 (U.S.). Also available is a toolbar to mount 3 or more ECO and a Multiple Row Weeder from 3 to 6 rows.
"Nearly all customers pay off the machine in the first year of operation just by saving time, chemicals and increasing the quality of their produce," notes Bisaillon, who says the ECO II weeder is ideal for weeding beside plastic mulch.
Contact the company for a free video or DVD showing the weeders in operation.
