Quick & Easy Cattle Guard
"I built a cattle guard out of pressure-treated 2 by 4's, gravel and concrete blocks. It didn't cost much and was easy to set up," says David Beust, Clinton, Wash.
"The wood frame around the blocks measures 8 by 12 ft. and sits on 6 in. of clean gravel. There's a board between concrete blocks, with the entire perimeter banked with gravel. I installed it 6 months ago and so far no cattle have crossed it."
