Remote-Mounted Turbo System
The patented Remote-Mount Turbo System uses the power of engine exhaust to pull more air into the engine, rather than a belt-driven unit on the front end that sucks up engine power.
The remote-mount turbo replaces the factory muffler and mounts on existing exhaust hangers.
"A big advantage is that you don't have to remove the exhaust manifolds or relocate components in the engine compartment. In most vehicles, finding a place for a turbocharger can be a difficult job. Our turbocharger systems generally take up less space and weigh about the same as the factory mufflers being removed," says David South, marketing director for STS Turbo.
"Our system increases horsepower and torque so efficiently that most of our truck and SUV customers report a 1 to 3 mpg increase in gas mileage, along with power and torque gains of 55 to 60 percent or more," says South.
A complete turbocharger kit for a standard Chevy pickup sells for about $4,995.
