Mini Incubator
"We've sold a lot of them to schools," says Dan Chagnon, a representative of Brinsea Products, Inc. The company sells a mini incubator that lets you easily hatch your own eggs.
The digital unit is easy to use. Just select one of four settings - chicken, duck, pheasant or quail - and the machine selects the proper temperature, turning and length of incubation. All you have to do is fill it with water as needed. Chagnon says the fifth setting called "mystery bird" lets an experienced operator manually program it.
The incubator automatically stops turning two days before hatching and the display shows you when the eggs are due to hatch.
It holds 3 chicken eggs and up to 7 smaller quail eggs in a small tray insert.
The Brinsea website lists companies that sell fertilized eggs.
Sells for $149 (not including eggs) plus S&H.
