Trucks keep their original ground clearance and appearance. The Power Step is activated by electric door sensors so it drops down and out in about a second when the door opens. It retracts just as quickly when the door closes. Anti-pinch sensors detect as little as 5 lbs. of pressure on the non-slip step. "The sensors won't let it retract if any amount of weight is present," explains Ray Hipoleto, a Power Step installer. The running board is available on many full size pickups with extended or crew cabs.
