Special Tool For Pilot Bearing In Deere Tractor
Dale Conrady, Hettick, Ill.: "I needed to pull a pilot bearing out of the engine in my Deere 2020 tractor, but I didn't have the special tool that's normally used for this kind of job. I came up with a quick fix by grinding down part of a 3/8-in. dia. bolt just below the head, leaving a square ęshoulder' that hooks onto the bearing. Then I screwed a nut and washer onto the other end of the bolt. By grabbing the nut and washer with a crowbar I was able to pull the bearing out."
