"Tool-Less" Hangers Grab Onto Joists, Studs
If you're looking for an easy, low-cost way to hang tools and other equipment in your shop or garage, you'll like these new "tool-less" hangers offered by Tool-Less Hanger Corp., Naperville, Ill.
The company offers a variety of different products designed to hang from joists, beams, rafters, wall studs, etc.
Yoisters. Designed for joists, beams, and rafters up to 1 3/4 in. thick. Handles loads up to 80 lbs. A curved handle supports a pair of sharp points. When you push the yoister up into the joist and pull down, the points hook into the wood. The harder you pull, the tighter the points dig in. Yoisters sell for $1.26 apiece and are sold in a carton of 24.
Super Clips. These carbon steel clips also hang from overhead joists. They're nickle plated for rust resistance indoors or out. The company says they work great for hanging baskets and wind chimes. Lift capacity is 20 lbs. Super Clips sell for 80 cents apiece and are sold in a carton of 24.
Clampets. They're made from wire and are designed to be used on 2 by 4 wall studs. You force the partially curved wire around the stud and spring tension holds it in place. Tension causes the upper point to bite into the wood. Each hanger holds about 50 lbs. Works great for holding small shovels, bicycle wheels, etc. Clampets sell for $1.65 apiece and are sold in a carton of 16.
Hangouts. These powder-coated wire hangers are designed to wrap around 4 by 4 posts. They're available as light duty (1/4-in. wire) for wind chimes and wind socks; medium duty (5/16-in. wire) for small bird feeders and hanging baskets; or heavy duty (3/8-in. wire) for large hanging baskets weighing up to 20 lbs. Hangouts sell for $3.30 to $4.00 apiece and are sold in a carton of 12.
  Dealer inquiries welcome.
