Portable Woodlot Equipment
If you've got a woodlot that's hard to get to, you'll like this new portable equipment that makes working in even the remotest areas easier.
G.W. Lucas & Sons' mill is a portable saw mill which can be easily set up and run by one or two operators. It can be transported on a utility vehicle or pickup and features light but strong aluminum rails and a powerhead fitted with removable wheels for easy shifting.
It uses a gas strut mechanism to turn the circular saw blade through 90 degrees. This allows cuts in both the horizontal and vertical planes.
Two models available. Model 6 with 16 hp engine and 6 1/4-in. maximum depth of cut. Model 8 with 20 hp engine and 8 1/2 in. depth of cut.
Sells for about $9,300 and $11,400, respectively.
Yanigav's new portable log saw is said to be more convenient and easy to use than any conventional stationary table saw.
It's powered by a Kawasaki 8 hp engine and features a 20-in. dia. saw blade that retracts and extends to the cutting position with a foot pedal. It rides on two 10-in. dia. pneumatic tires and pulls to the job just like a wheelbarrow.
It'll handle up to a 9-in. dia. log.
  Sells for about $1,750.
  Also available in trailer-mounted model.
