Powered Cob "Silker" Makes Corn Husking Easy
You can de-silk 12 bu. of sweet corn per hour with this new automatic silker from Black Jack Inc., which is also manufacturer of the "World's Fastest Corn Creamer" (Vol. 21, No. 4).
The "Silk-A-Way" corn silker consists of four plastic brushes mounted inside a 4 in. dia. aluminum drum that's turned by a 1/4 hp electric motor. The drum rotates at 600 rpm's and mounts inside a cardboard housing for safety.
To use, you simply insert each end of the ear for a second or so.
