Square Bale Packer, Wrapper
A first-of-its-kind square bale packer and plasti-wrapper made its debut at the SIMA show.
The Montjaux bale handler makes a rectangular pile of 12 to 24 bales (depending on size of bales) and wraps them in a band of plastic, leaving two sides of the pile open for aeration. The machine can also wrap the bales with three bands of plastic, if preferred.
"Many farmers still like the convenience of square bales as compared to round bales. This machine makes it easier to handle and protect them on a volume basis," company representative Paul Michel told FARM SHOW.
The machine trails directly behind the baler. Bales push up a sliding chute, pushed by the baler, and are aligned by hydraulic-operated conveyors and switches. As each row is completed, it drops down one layer until all bales are in place. At that point they're completely wrapped and dropped to the field. There's no need to stop. While the pile's being wrapped, the next row of bales is being put into place above. Plastic is automatically heat-sealed to hold it in place. Sells for $15,000.
