Special Roses Carry Romantic Message Inside
A New Jersey inventor says he's improved upon nature by inserting tiny scrolls inscribed with romantic messages inside roses. As the rose blooms, a small yellow "stamin" appears and the recipient uses it to pull the capsule out of the rose and read a special heart-felt message.
The patented idea was developed by Burt Geiges for sending flowers to his girlfriend. "It adds to the excitement of receiving roses when you know that a message is waiting for you when they fully bloom," says Geiges. It took months of research and experimentation to come up with a way to inject message capsules into closed rosebuds without damaging the flowers.
"Thoughts In Bloom" are available only in roses but Geiges hope to work with other flowers in the future. He also plans to put diamonds or other gems inside closed flowers.
A Thoughts In Bloom delivery of 1, 3, 6 or a dozen roses to anywhere in the country can be ordered by phone. Prices range from $20 to $65 and you can insert any message up to 12 words long. There's an extra charge if you want a different message in each rose.
