Giant Rotisserie Makes Easy Work Of Barbeques
The Big Ben Rotisserie 78 is the only 4-point, self-basting rotisserie on the market. Designed and produced by Wellspring Components, LLC in Shipshewana, Ind., the rotisserie requires just one person to operate. It can cook ribs, chicken, and potatoes simultaneously, making it an ideal tool for caterers and food truck owners.
Big Ben is capable of cooking 120 to 130 lbs. of boneless chicken thighs, 170 to 180 lbs. of bone-in chicken, 48 pork ribs, 24 pork butts, and 16 to 24 briskets all at once. An optional hanging grate is suitable for pork butts, beef briskets, whole birds, and even regular pans for beans and other side dishes.
Wellspring Components, LLC specializes in designing BBQ equipment for professional use. The company is comprised of a team with a collective four generations of blacksmithing experience. Founder Ben B. Miller (known locally as “Big Ben”) established a blacksmith shop in the Ohio Swiss Valley in the 1950’s. Since then, the company has remained in the family and evolved, eventually becoming a full-service solar division in the mid-90’s and a manufacturer of barbeque equipment in 2008.
The Big Ben Rotisserie was built over years of research and development. It includes the maximum-sized sandwich grate one person can handle, along with a double grate to accommodate different thicknesses of meat. The clamping system is a one-of-a-kind design that allows for uniform heat and 100 percent true self-basting. The 120V motorized rotisserie measures 36 in. by 78 in. and runs on charcoal. It offers cool, medium, and hot heat zones and 4-point self-basting. Options include both high-heat grilling and low and slow. It acts like a full-chamber convection fan to regulate the temperature for each grate. The semi-direct exposure to upper and lower heat zones lets drippings fall on the coals, preventing flame flare-ups and adding flavor. Big Ben recycles juices with each rotation and saves fuel costs compared to similar setups.
Big Ben is towable with a truck or SUV. It’s meant to operate on a trailer and can be added to custom trailers. Contact the company directly for a quote or to find a dealer.
